OverviewThe Associate Director of Development will report to the Assistant Athletic Director of Development and is responsible for annual fundraising, communication, events, and organizational efforts for designated athletic associations supporting Yale’s 35 varsity teams. The Associate Director will cultivate meaningful relationships with alumni, parents, and friends of Yale Athletics. Responsibilities include overseeing volunteer initiatives, development/event communications, meeting annual fundraising goals, and delivering stewardship experiences that deepen donor commitment.
The role includes planning and executing monthly, quarterly, and annual events to engage Yale student-athlete alumni. The portfolio may also include sport-specific newsletters, foreign tour fundraising, event communications, and other assigned areas. This position combines frontline fundraising, relationship-building, and event management in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment and requires the ability to travel for meetings and special events, including nights and weekends.
Skills And Abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills, including attention to detail.
- Ability to handle a diverse portfolio and simultaneous tasks.
- Highly motivated and energetic; ability to show initiative and work independently.
- High level of quantitative skills; ability to analyze data and implement strategy.
- Skilled in Microsoft suite and Google platform; ability to learn new software and data management products.
Required
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree. Three years of related experience in a fundraising capacity or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
