Overview

The Manager of Faculty Affairs will report directly to the Director of Faculty Affairs and will collaborate with the Finance & Administration teams, Faculty and Staff in the IBO بال Integrated Business Operations, and Yale School of Medicine (YSM) Institutional offices. This position provides leadership on important projects and serves as a key administrative leader for the department's key internal constituencies at the School of Medicine and University offices across several functions, including but not limited to the Office of Academic and Professional Development, the Office of International Students and Scholars, and the Office of the General Counsel.

This position supervises members of the Faculty Affairs staff across three departments. It serves as a first point of escalation and source of information on University, Department, and YSM policies and procedures, and is a critical conduit for strengthening the interface between department needs and Institutional requirements. This is a hybrid position requiring time on-site.

Position Focus Responsibilities
  • Directs and manages the academic support needs for faculty across the IBO by providing recommendations, improvements, solutions, and assistance as needed.
  • Contributes to departmental leadership meetings, with the Director of Faculty Affairs, the Chair of the Department, and additional leadership.
  • Manages workflow and leads change management initiatives for faculty affairs in partnership with the Director of Faculty Affairs.
  • Champions the Integrated Business Operations model and strives to inform staff and faculty about the integrated workflow and processes.
  • Serves as a first point of escalation for emerging issues and is an expert resource regarding faculty policies and procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with University and federal regulations as they apply to each department in the IBO.
  • Contributes to the allocation of resources, metrics, and cross coverage plans in faculty affairs.
  • Manages M&P and C&T staff members across three departments.

Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrated possession of sound independent judgement, intuition and common sense with excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritize and handle many tasks and priorities simultaneously in a complex, fast-paced academic environment.
  • Superior interpersonal skills and ability to interact with faculty, staff, students, and administrators at all levels in a highly professional manner. Ability to negotiate skillfully with both internal and external constituents and deal with complex issues and sensitive situations that require confidentiality and discretion.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills necessary to effectively work with individuals both inside and outside the organization from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated success and ability to manage people on a day-to-day basis and inspire a high level of commitment and performance.
  • Well-developed managerial, decision-making, planning, organizational, problem-resolution, and leadership skills.
  • Solid understanding of internal control concepts and the implementation of internal control systems in a complex business environment.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
