Introduction
Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU) is a constituent unit of the Board of Regents for Higher Education (BOR), Connecticut State Colleges and Universities. We are currently recruiting for a part‑time Custodian position to work on our campus in New Haven, CT.

Responsibilities- Perform custodial tasks and maintenance of dormitories, classrooms, offices, auditoriums, wards, kitchens, dining rooms and lavatories, as well as outdoor areas such as trash removal around buildings.
- Dust, mop, sweep, scrub, strip, wax, and polish floors using appropriate equipment such as floor polishers and buffers.
- Wash, dust, and polish glass, windows, woodwork, walls, furniture, and metal equipment.
- Make beds; check, mark, store, and issue linens, blankets, and clothing within the individual’s work area.
- Collect and count soiled laundry; distribute, empty, and sterilize glassware, wash basins, and bedpans.
- Sweep walkways; collect and dispose of trash.
- Report needs for repairs and perform minor maintenance tasks.
- Run errands and inspect buildings for damage, reporting conditions to the supervisor.
- Replace light bulbs, fuses, and other fixtures; lubricate or tighten door hinges, drawers, cabinets, and other hardware.
- Replace ceiling or floor tiles, remove snow and ice from stairways and walkways, and sand and salt stairways and walkways as needed.
- Move furniture and set‑up classrooms.
- Perform additional duties as required.

- Ability to operate, care for, and perform minor maintenance on tools and equipment used in daily work.

Physical Requirements- Adequate physical strength, stamina, and agility.
- Visual and auditory acuity.
- Ability to lift moderate to heavy weights and maintain physical fitness necessary to perform job duties.
- May be required to undergo a physical examination.
Incumbents may be required to lift moderate to heavy weights and may be exposed to risk of injury from equipment and/or individuals.
