Technical Product Manager - Primordial Labs

Join to apply for the Technical Product Manager role at Primordial Labs.

About Primordial Labs

We’re building the next generation interface for commanding autonomous systems in the real world. Our core product, Anura, translates spoken or typed intent into structured actions across drones, sensors, and mission software—enabling faster, more intuitive control in high‑stakes environments. We’re a distributed team of engineers, operators, and technologists focused on deploying reliable autonomy at the tactical edge.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Technical Product Manager to help shape and deliver mission‑critical software used in real operational environments. This role is responsible for translating customer and operator needs into clear product requirements, prioritizing work across competing demands, and working closely with engineering to deliver capabilities. You will operate at the intersection of product strategy, execution, and customer engagement, with direct influence on what gets built and why.

As an early member of the team, you will be the primary driver of our execution engine, responsible for transforming strategic goals into real capabilities on a predictable schedule.

What You’ll Do
  • Translate customer and operator needs into clear product requirements and backlog priorities
  • Own and evolve product backlog within mission‑aligned Product IPTs
  • Lead technical refinement and grooming sessions, collaborating with SW and Systems Engineers to translate complex goals into executable tasks that meet a strict Definition of Ready before entering the execution cycle
  • Identify and manage cross‑project dependencies and resource constraints to mitigate risks before they impact delivery timelines
  • Drive team predictability by monitoring execution health (velocity, burn‑down) and refining estimation processes to improve the accuracy of long‑term roadmap forecasting and resource planning
  • Establish and enforce a Definition of Done to ensure delivered capabilities are high‑quality, fully tested, and meet operational standards
  • Balance execution‑driven needs with longer‑term product roadmap goals
  • Partner with Mission Delivery and Integration teams to support deployments and capture real‑world feedback
  • Support product planning cadences (quarterly, monthly, sprint‑level) and communicate priorities clearly
About You
  • 5‑10 years of experience, with 2‑5 years experience in product management, systems engineering, software delivery, or a closely related role
  • Advanced proficiency in Agile tools (e.g., Jira, Azure Dev Ops) to build automated reporting and manage cross‑project dependencies
  • Comfortable working directly with engineers on technical implementation details and system‑level trade‑offs
  • Ability to break ambiguous problems into structured requirements and tradeoffs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience using Agile metrics to diagnose process bottlenecks and improve team predictability
  • Proven ability to manage competing stakeholder priorities and make hard trade‑off decisions in a resource‑constrained environment
Desirable Qualities
  • Technical background (engineering, computer science, physics, or similar)
  • Experience in defense, autonomy, robotics, aerospace, or complex systems domains
  • Familiarity with systems engineering concepts, integrations, or platform software
  • Exposure to customer‑facing technical roles (solutions engineering, deployments, field work)
  • Experience balancing contract‑driven requirements with product roadmap priorities
  • Experience growing a team and talent development

Applicants must have current authorization to work in the U.S., and we are not able to provide visa sponsorship for this role.

Compensation

Target base salary of $160,000 – $200,000 annually, with the specific figure determined by the candidate’s experience level. We’re committed to fair and equitable compensation and are happy to explain how we determine our salary ranges.
