Tuesday through Saturday, 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM (REST).
The Recovery Support Specialist II (RSS/II) provides comprehensive community‑based residential and support services to persons with mental health, intellectual, and addiction needs. They deliver hands‑on, intensive skill‑building interventions and supports to help clients achieve independence and well‑being. They collaborate with Community Support Specialists/Case Managers and program staff to support individuals in achieving aspirations through person‑centered, strengths‑based, and culturally competent methods.
Responsibilities- Administer dual supervision as required by the site supervisor and the South‑Central Peer Services Manager.
- Establish rapport and a working relationship with clients.
- Serve as a mentor, teaching, role‑modeling, and prompting to enhance strengths and skill deficits.
- Provide face‑to‑face, hands‑on supportive assistance to help clients maintain community living.
- Promote clients’ strengths and abilities to improve socialization, recovery advocacy, development of natural supports, and maintenance of community living skills.
- Offer supportive companionship and facilitate problem‑solving discussions.
- Engage clients in routine medical, social, wellness, and other community appointments as part of their recovery.
- Assist clients in achieving aspirations and goals and participate in recovery planning per their care plan.
- Develop individual recovery and/or wellness plans as indicated.
- Help clients access community resources, plan travel, and secure transportation.
- Attend and participate in identified collaborative team and external community meetings.
- Facilitate/co‑facilitate psycho educational groups as required.
- Maintain client records and reporting documentation as directed by the agency.
- Attend monthly staff and supervision meetings.
- Conduct regular apartment/house inspections and support clients in maintaining overall cleanliness.
- Coach and mentor RSS interns during their practicum placements.
- Mentor and serve as a lead RSS in programs where more than one RSS is present.
- Co‑facilitate RSS self‑care and supervision groups as indicated.
- Provide support and accountability during fidelity, quality, and licensing reviews.
- Maintain a clean, well‑organized work environment, reporting environmental concerns as identified.
- Assist with upkeep and sanitation of common areas, kitchens, bathrooms, and other areas as needed.
- Participate in Food Bank and property upkeep activities as assigned.
- Associate’s degree or 60 credit hours toward a bachelor’s degree; preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year employed as a Recovery Support Specialist I.
- High school diploma or equivalent with CT Recovery University Certification and a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a related behavioral health field.
- First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
- Valid Connecticut Driver’s license; willingness to transport clients in personal vehicles. Reliable transportation and minimum CT state automobile liability insurance required.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic record‑keeping.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
- Ability to model culturally competent behavior when interacting with clients, providers, and colleagues.

- Experience working with clients in community‑based residential settings preferred.
