Labor & Delivery RN Job Details

Short Term Acute Care, Level I Trauma Center

• Contract Length: 13 weeks (Start:– End:

• Shift: Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts (19:00 – 07:00); flexible scheduling (3x12s or block scheduling available)

• Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed

• Weekend Requirement:
Every other weekend

• On-call: 2 four-hour blocks per 6-week schedule

• Orientation: 16 hours

• Charting System:
Epic EMR experience preferred

• Scrubs:
Provided

• Parking:
On-site ($125/month)

• Estimated Weekly Salary: $$2250 per week
Labor & Delivery RN Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience (1.5 years considered with Level I Trauma or travel nurse experience)

• Active Registered Nurse license (CT RN license required; pending accepted if active prior to start)

• BLS (Basic Life Support) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications required

• Epic charting experience preferred

• Ability to work every other weekend and participate in on-call rotation

• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)

• One professional reference required

• Not accepting local candidates (must reside more than 75 miles from facility)
Labor & Delivery Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to mothers and newborns during labor, delivery, and postpartum periods

• Assist with high-risk deliveries, C-sections, and neonatal resuscitation

• Perform newborn assessments and provide breastfeeding/lactation support

• Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and respond to obstetric emergencies

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response

• Maintain accurate clinical documentation using Epic EMR

• Promote patient safety and comfort in a busy unit averaging deliveries per month
