Residential Aide – Full Time 40 Hours – Jimmy’s Place
Shift schedule:
Thursday, Friday, Saturday 3 PM – 11 PM;
Sunday, Monday 4 PM – 12 AM. Weekend shift differential $1.28/hour.
Jimmy’s Place is a residential care program that assists individuals with daily routines, promotes independent living, and provides companionship. The Residential Aide works with licensed nursing staff to monitor medical concerns, administer medications, and keep living spaces safe and organized.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS- Establish rapport and maintain professional boundaries with clients.
- Enhance independent living skills through teaching, modeling, prompting, and hands‑on assistance.
- Assist with activities of daily living (personal care, hygiene, housekeeping, laundry, food management, budgeting, safety, leisure).
- Facilitate psycho educational groups and engage clients in community, recreation, and transportation activities.
- Conduct apartment/room inspections and maintain cleanliness.
- Administer breathalyzer tests and urine samples as applicable.
- Document shift logs in electronic record per policy.
- Respond to crisis situations using Nonviolent Practices.
- Supervise, monitor, and document client medication self‑administration.
- Attend monthly staff meetings, clinical rounds, and agency meetings.
- Maintain clean, organized work environment and clear walkways.
- Notify supervisor of maintenance or safety issues; generate work orders.
- Participate in fire and emergency evacuation drills; review emergency preparedness plan.
- Participate in Food Bank activities as assigned.
- Stay alert throughout shift to ensure client safety.
- Adhere to staff handbook and program operations manual.
- Follow HIPAA regulations and secure releases of information.
- Maintain accurate electronic records and case files.
- Participate in agency committee work and training; attend in‑service trainings.
- Model culturally competent behavior.
- High School Diploma or equivalent; 1 year experience in related healthcare field; CNA or other certification accepted in lieu of experience.
- Prior experience working with individuals with severe mental illness, intellectual disabilities, or addiction.
- Valid Connecticut driver’s license with clean driving record.
- Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office, electronic record keeping).
- CPR/First Aid certification (renew as required).
