Smilow Cancer Hospital is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for its retail pharmacy. Join our team and contribute to patient‑centered care.

Responsibilities- Prescription Processing & Preparation (35%)
Accurately locate and enter patient demographic info, transcribe medication orders, perform calculations, assist in adjudication, manage costs, pick/prepare/label meds, assist LTC prescriptions with blister packaging, etc. - Customer Service & Communication (30%)
Assist patients with register transactions, telephone calls, OTC product location, respond to nursing/provider inquiries, adhere to HIPAA, follow non‑negotiables such as AIDET, 10/5 rule, etc. - Department Maintenance (20%)
Maintain a clean work environment, comply with record‑keeping regulations, keep pharmacy items stocked, assist opening/closing procedures. - Inventory Management (15%)
Maintain OTC merchandise, manage stock rotation, remove expired items, receive and count medications, perform cycle counts, reorder items, place orders via wholesaler.
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Additional training in pharmacy technician, medical office administration, or similar disciplines preferred through an associate’s degree or pharmacy technician program.
Experience6 months pharmacy technician experience or healthcare experience required; specialty/retail experience preferred. Military or academic pharmacy technician training program considered equivalent to one year experience.
LicensurePharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification and Connecticut Pharmacy Technician license.
Special SkillsStrong customer service, independent problem solving, excellent verbal and written communication, ability to prioritize and multitask, proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel), strong time management and organizational skills, flexibility and eagerness to learn.
Physical DemandFlexible with scheduling; able to work evenings, holidays, weekends. Able to lift up to 20 lbs, stand for majority of shift.
