Overview

This role involves performing all speech-language, communicative, and swallowing diagnostic and rehabilitative procedures on inpatients and outpatients. Responsibilities include conducting evaluations, analyzing results, diagnosing disorders, recommending and executing appropriate rehabilitation interventions, counseling patients and families, and documenting all procedures in the EMR.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical: Interpret physician referrals, perform clinical evaluations, develop and monitor treatment programs, set measurable goals, provide education, maintain accurate records, ensure equipment safety, and participate in team activities.
  • Educational: Attend department in-services, assist with staff orientation, seek ongoing professional development, and document educational activities.
  • Administration: Follow hospital policies, participate in quality assurance, organize daily schedules, manage patient coverage, maintain documentation per regulatory standards.
  • Clinical Supervision: Participate in meetings, delegate responsibilities appropriately, supervise students and CFYs, and report to supervisors and team leaders.
  • Human Relations

    Skills:

    Demonstrate respect and professionalism towards all patients, families, visitors, and staff.
  • Qualifications

    • Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology with a completed Certificate of Clinical Competence.
    • 1-2 years of clinical experience preferred, with experience in working with children and/or adults across various diagnoses.
    • Current unrestricted license to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist in CT.
    • Experience with FEES, MBS, and TEP preferred. Excellent interpersonal, clinical, and organizational skills.
