Under the supervision of the CFO, the Director of Finance is responsible for assisting with fiscal management aspects of Cornell Scott - Hill Health Corporation (CS-HHC) operations. The Director of Finance assists the CFO with providing fiscal oversight and coordination in the accounting and budgeting efforts of CS-HHC. Assists in directing, managing, supervising and participates in the preparation of financial reports and ensures the use of approved accounting methods in determining the financial position of the organization.

Directly manages Financial Accounting, Accounts Payable and Cash Management departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assists in creating, coordinating, and evaluating the financial programs and supporting information systems of CS-HHC to include budgeting and safeguarding of assets
  • Coordinates changes and improvements in automated financial and management information systems for CS-HHC
  • Assist in assuring compliance with local, state, and federal budgetary reporting requirements
  • Assists in the approval and processing of revenue, expenditure, department budgets, mass salary updates, ledger, account maintenance and data entry.
  • Works with HR on staff allocation and position control documents
  • Coordinates the preparation of financial statements, financial reports, special analysis and other reports as required by the Chief Financial Officer.
  • Participates in the review of contracting and marketing initiatives to facilitate development of revenue, products and alliances within the established guidelines
  • Assists in establishing and implementing short and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures
  • Assists in assuring that department heads and program managers/supervisors receive program and cost center financial reports as requested of the CFO.
  • Supervises and evaluates assigned personnel in the performance of their required duties based on predefined performance objectives. Provides appropriate feedback and conducts timely, fair and accurate performance reviews
  • Interact with other managers to provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports, and make recommendations
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer
Requirements
  • MBA, MPH, MHA or Master’s in other health care-related field strongly preferred. Bachelor’s Degree with major in Accounting or Business Management required. CPA is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of three (3) years as a CPA or high-level accountant experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated skills in fiscal aspects of program development, financial management, staff management, staff motivation/retention, grant/funding development, alternative financing/reimbursement methodologies including capitation, cost-based reimbursement and risk-based contracting formats.
  • Must have experience working with large, full-service ambulatory clinics, health centers or hospitals.
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution.
  • Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management.
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
  • Knowledge of federal and state health care related financial regulations.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
  • Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight time frames and simultaneously manage several projects.
  • Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
