Position: Vacation Bible School Intern Elm City Vineyard Church

Position Overview

The VBS Intern supports the planning, preparation, and execution of Vacation Bible School by assisting with programming, volunteers, children, and daily operations. This role is ideal for a college student or young adult seeking hands‑on ministry experience in children’s programming, leadership development, and event coordination within a church setting.

Key Responsibilities Pre‑VBS Preparation
  • Assist with VBS planning meetings and preparation tasks
  • Help organize curriculum materials, supplies, and decorations
  • Support volunteer recruitment, communication, and training
  • Assist with lesson prep, activity planning, and classroom setup
During VBS
  • Support daily VBS operations and schedule flow
  • Assist with leading small groups, stations, games, worship, or crafts
  • Help supervise children and ensure a safe, welcoming environment
  • Support volunteers by troubleshooting needs and offering encouragement
  • Assist with registration, attendance tracking, and parent communication
Post‑VBS Support
  • Help with cleanup, inventory, and organization of materials
  • Assist with follow‑up communication to families and volunteers
  • Participate in debrief meetings and provide feedback on the program
Qualifications
  • Personal commitment to Christian faith and alignment with the church’s mission and values
  • Enjoys working with children and families
  • Reliable, organized, and able to follow directions
  • Positive attitude, flexibility, and willingness to serve where needed
  • Prior experience with children, camps, or church programs preferred but not required
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to lead or assist with groups of children
  • Time management and adaptability in a fast‑paced environment
  • Basic organizational and administrative skills
Physical & Schedule Requirements
  • Ability to be active, stand, walk, and engage with children throughout the day
  • Availability during VBS week(s) and designated prep days
  • Occasional lifting of supplies (up to ~25 lbs)
Compensation
  • Paid stipend or hourly wage (as determined by the church)

Length of Internship
  • Typically 4–8 weeks (adjustable based on church needs)
