Position Overview
The VBS Intern supports the planning, preparation, and execution of Vacation Bible School by assisting with programming, volunteers, children, and daily operations. This role is ideal for a college student or young adult seeking hands‑on ministry experience in children’s programming, leadership development, and event coordination within a church setting.
Key Responsibilities Pre‑VBS Preparation- Assist with VBS planning meetings and preparation tasks
- Help organize curriculum materials, supplies, and decorations
- Support volunteer recruitment, communication, and training
- Assist with lesson prep, activity planning, and classroom setup
- Support daily VBS operations and schedule flow
- Assist with leading small groups, stations, games, worship, or crafts
- Help supervise children and ensure a safe, welcoming environment
- Support volunteers by troubleshooting needs and offering encouragement
- Assist with registration, attendance tracking, and parent communication
- Help with cleanup, inventory, and organization of materials
- Assist with follow‑up communication to families and volunteers
- Participate in debrief meetings and provide feedback on the program
- Personal commitment to Christian faith and alignment with the church’s mission and values
- Enjoys working with children and families
- Reliable, organized, and able to follow directions
- Positive attitude, flexibility, and willingness to serve where needed
- Prior experience with children, camps, or church programs preferred but not required
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to lead or assist with groups of children
- Time management and adaptability in a fast‑paced environment
- Basic organizational and administrative skills
- Ability to be active, stand, walk, and engage with children throughout the day
- Availability during VBS week(s) and designated prep days
- Occasional lifting of supplies (up to ~25 lbs)
- Paid stipend or hourly wage (as determined by the church)
- Ministry experience, training, and mentorship opportunities
- Typically 4–8 weeks (adjustable based on church needs)
