Job Overview

The Department of Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics invites applications for a full‑time faculty member to deliver high‑quality, student‑centered learning experiences with a primary responsibility in Anatomy and Physiology instruction. The successful candidate will teach and coordinate lecture and laboratory sections of two multi‑section A&P courses, on‑campus and online, for students in Biology, General Health Science and Nursing programs. Opportunities exist to teach other related courses.

Responsibilities also include teaching, course coordination, department and college service, and collaboration with colleagues across the college. Rank will be commensurate with education and experience.

Qualifications
  • Education: Master’s degree in a relevant field;
    Ph.D., M.D., or D.P.T. strongly preferred. Doctoral candidates in the final stages are welcome.
  • Teaching

    Experience:

    Evidence of experience in teaching Anatomy and Physiology lecture and laboratory in person, hybrid, and online at the college level.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Teaching Excellence: Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Essential Functions
  • Deliver 24 credits of didactic, laboratory, and experiential instruction in the biology program, mainly in Anatomy and Physiology.
  • Coordinate and teach Anatomy and Physiology in‑person and online lectures and labs.
  • Serve on college committees, attend faculty meetings, advise students, and participate actively in program, departmental, and college events.
  • Use state‑of‑the‑art technology for instruction and office duties.
  • Provide students with an approved syllabus that includes objectives, learning outcomes, teaching methodology, attendance policies, texts, assignments, timelines, and evaluation criteria.
  • Design engaging assignments that demonstrate real‑world applications of concepts.
  • Participate in shared governance and attend college activities such as convocation, graduation, and ceremonies.
  • Administer the college’s learning management system to post syllabi, assignments, and materials; communicate with students.
  • Advise and assist students through office hours, scheduled appointments, phone, email, and other approved mechanisms.
  • Provide service including student mentoring, ongoing course development, and assessment.
  • Contribute to periodic reviews and revisions of departmental course offerings.
  • Maintain advanced knowledge in the discipline and areas of expertise.
  • Complete additional responsibilities as assigned.

Strong oral and written communication skills; able to provide information and respond positively to questions from external and internal customers in person and by phone; able to write routine reports and correspondence.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization, interpret a variety of instructions (written, oral, diagram, schedule), work independently or as a group member, develop and execute project plans, and apply logic in theoretical and practical arenas.
