The Department of Social Work at Southern Connecticut State University seeks applicants to collaborate with students, social workers, and professionals to teach, engage in scholarly activity, and serve local, national, and international communities impacted by social injustices. Responsibilities include educating BSW, MSW, and DSW students in anti-oppressive practices, preparing students for entry-level and advanced social work positions, and supporting graduate education and doctoral training.
The position is full-time, tenure-track, beginning August 2025. Primary duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, engaging in scholarship, providing service to the department and university, participating in community engagement, and student advising. Specific needs include teaching Clinical Practice with Substance Use, and BSW, MSW, and DSW Research courses.
Required QualificationsMSW from a CSWE-accredited program and a doctoral degree (Ph.D., DSW, or Ed.D.) by August 2025. At least two years of post-MSW practice experience. Proven effectiveness in working with diverse populations and a commitment to anti-racism, diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, aligned with NASW Code of Ethics and CSWE standards.
Preferred QualificationsExperience teaching online, hybrid, and on-ground courses; demonstrated capacity for anti-racist and anti-oppressive teaching; scholarship or creative activity; clinical practice with substance use; LCSW or equivalent license.
About the DepartmentThe department offers BSW, MSW, and DSW programs with approximately 250 undergraduates, 280 master's students, and 30 doctoral students annually. Its mission is to provide quality social work education and advance knowledge through practice and research. The department was reaccredited by the CSWE in October 2022 for eight years.
