Postgraduate Associate, Spring 2026
Join the Yale Mac Millan Center as a full‑time postgraduate associate, working from the Y‑RISE office and participating in the Yale Economics Department’s pre‑doctoral Tobin RA program. The position lasts one to two years, with a strong preference for candidates staying at least two years. The preferred start date is Spring 2026.

Job SummaryThe role focuses on collaboration across new and ongoing projects related to the Y‑RISE research agenda on large‑scale development interventions. Projects may involve assessing general‑equilibrium effects, political outcomes, external validity of program estimates, and implementation challenges. Example:
Professor Mushfiq Mobarak’s work on seasonal migration.
- Plan study design and prepare datasets, including cleaning and analysis of large data sets.
- Help write papers and proposals, generate figures and tables, and support quality assurance of ongoing fieldwork.
- Assist with field experiment design and management.
- Receive training in technical research skills: statistical analysis, field experiment management, literature on key economic development topics, and soft skills for academic research.
- Mentored by Professor Mushfiq Mobarak through group and one‑on‑one meetings.
- Access to peer mentorship through the Tobin Center for Economic Policy.
- Access to Tobin Pre‑doc Program resources, including taking one course per semester, attending weekly professional‑development seminars, and participating in department research seminars.
Salary commensurate with experience, compliant with Yale Office of Postdoctoral Affairs compensation policy, and includes benefits.
Qualifications- Detail‑oriented with programming experience in Stata, R, Matlab, or Python.
- Strong quantitative background.
- Ability to work independently to solve problems.
- Long‑term interest in pursuing research in economics.
- Knowledge of economics and randomized controlled trials preferred; applicants with strong technical backgrounds are also encouraged.
