Overview

Facilities and Campus Development is seeking to fill two positions for Campus Planners that will manage a portfolio of 10-20 capital projects with total values of $50 to $100 million on time and on budget. The Campus Planner leads a diverse team of third‑party architects, engineers, construction managers, and commissioning firms. The role includes program‑level and project‑level responsibilities, stakeholder engagement, and delivery of high‑quality capital projects within the University’s policies and guidelines.

Principal

Responsibilities

Develop planning models based on departmental and institutional priorities.

Participate in resolving planning and technical conflicts and recommend cost‑effective options.

Ensure that institutional planning objectives are incorporated into departmental plans and projects.

Prepare succinct presentations to aid timely and informed decision making.

Establish priorities for the allocation of design resources.

Manage and review the progress and quality of work performed by consultants.

Act as primary contact among project architects, consultants, building committees, technical and operations groups, and staff.

Provide advice to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, regulations, and University design standards.

Resolve conflicts with consultants, budgets, and schedules; develop overall project budgets.

Ensure projects in the planning phase are completed within the approved budget and schedule.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required

Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of architectural planning, design, and construction processes.

Advanced team building, strong written and oral communication, and presentation skills; business analysis and negotiation skills.

Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, eBuilder, and construction scheduling software; experience with eBuilder, Procore, Unifier, Bluebeam REvu.

Experience in preparing project budgets, cost estimating, and schedule development.

Ability to manage multiple assignments, set priorities, and lead third‑party teams to meet objectives.

Preferred

Skills and Abilities

Master’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management preferred.

Five years’ experience in multi‑portfolio project management preferred.

Experience with design and construction of multi‑discipline science & technology building programs or similar (e.g., medical facilities) preferred.

LEED Accredited Professional preferred;
Professional Engineering, Architectural, or Project Management Professional Registration or Certification (P.E.; R.A.; P.M.P.) preferred.

Required Education & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or Planning and seven years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
