. Hourly rate is based on relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and other job‑related qualifications.
Job Summary
Accountable for the safe, efficient, timely, and courteous delivery of energy products: fuel oil, diesel, off‑road diesel, gasoline, and propane. In quieter times, drivers assist with meter reading, tank setting, fleet reconditioning, and maintenance of company-owned properties.
Specific Responsibilities
- Efficiently delivers distillates and propane as directed by the distribution office team, observing all applicable safety practices and company regulations.
- Performs “return to service” duties that include leak checks and relighting of appliances (propane), and prime/starts (oil).
- Maintains a daily respectful, timely dialogue with office staff and Distribution/Operations Manager.
- Inspects and maintains delivery trucks, including:
- Pre‑trip inspections required by state and federal agencies (DOT, FMCSA), documented in fleet management software.
- Paperwork (inspection stickers, registrations, hazmat permits, insurance cards, shipping papers).
- Regular interior and exterior cleaning.
- Monthly meter creep testing (propane).
- Daily emergency shutoff testing (propane).
- Maintains and submits accurate reports and customer payments.
- Participates in safety and operations meetings, proposing ideas to improve delivery processes.
- Executes company safety strategy.
- Uses Personal Protective Equipment when applicable.
- Provides customer service support for delivery matters as necessary.
- Keeps office team informed of delivery or customer situations.
- Assists in off‑season tasks such as fleet reconditioning, meter reading, tank setting, landscaping/maintenance.
- Executes other tasks assigned by the Distribution/Operations Manager.

Requirements
- Three or more years of petroleum or propane delivery experience (preferred).
- Commercial Driver’s License, Class A or B, with hazmat, tanker, and air brake endorsements.
- Valid DOT medical certificate.
- Ability to drive a standard‑shift transmission.
- Ability to pass company‑provided drug, alcohol, and physical tests.
- Availability for a flexible schedule, including weekends, overtime, and on‑call shifts.
- Experience with regulatory agency requirements (DOT, Haz Mat, OSHA, FMCSA).
- Licensing and certifications as applicable (e.g., CETP delivery modules for propane).
- Proficient in use of Android tablets and web‑based software applications.
FLSA Status
Hourly, non‑exempt position. Electronic timekeeping of all hours required.
Job Environment
Delivery duties include pushing or pulling up to 100 lb, bending, lifting up to 25 lb, kneeling, squatting, climbing, standing, walking, sitting, reaching, driving, performing repetitive motions, and fine motor tasks. Hearing and vision must meet Commercial Driver’s licensing standards. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Compensation
Hourly pay range: $28.00 to $35.00, plus sign‑on bonus as noted.
