Security Systems Installation, Installation Technician
We’re looking for a talented Access Control Specialist with a strong low-voltage, alarms, or fire panel installation background to help keep our people, facilities, and physical assets safe. If you’ve worked with access control, cameras, alarm wiring, or life-safety panels and you enjoy building, installing, and troubleshooting systems, this role is a great fit.
You’ll take the lead on installing, maintaining, and optimizing a wide range of electronic security systems across our facilities, ensuring everything runs reliably and meets high safety standards. This is a hands-on position for someone who takes pride in clean wiring, quality workmanship, and solving technical problems in the field.
Key Position Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain electronic security systems, including access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, and alarm systems.
- Perform device wiring, terminations, testing, and troubleshooting—similar to fire panel, alarm, and low-voltage service work.
- Monitor system performance and quickly identify, diagnose, and resolve technical issues to keep systems running at peak reliability.
- Work closely with IT, Facilities, and Safety teams to design and support integrated security and low-voltage solutions across all company sites.
- Manage system updates, firmware changes, backups, and related documentation to support compliance and continuity. Perform routine inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance on security hardware, cabling, and infrastructure.
- Support new installations, upgrades, system expansions, and site buildouts.
- Respond to service requests, troubleshooting calls, and emergency issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Provide basic end-user training and support for security system operation.
- Maintain accurate system records, wiring documentation, access logs, and equipment inventories.
- Stay current with new security and low-voltage technologies and recommend improvements that enhance safety and efficiency.
Qualifications and Education:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in low-voltage, security, alarm, or IT-related system installation or service work.
- Strong knowledge of IP cameras, access control hardware, and electronic security systems.
- Advanced skills with IP-based networking, device configuration, and system integration.
- Experience with low-voltage cable installation, management, labeling, and routing best practices.
- Ability to terminate, test, and troubleshoot Ethernet and other low-voltage wiring types. Basic system programming experience (security systems, panels, or similar).
- Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and as-built drawings. Familiarity with tools, materials, and methods used in electronic security, alarm, or low-voltage installation and maintenance.
- Strong communication skills for working with supervisors, coworkers, and third-party contractors.
- Able to work independently, prioritize tasks, and solve problems with limited supervision.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and work 15–25 feet above ground.
- Computer literacy required (MS Word, Excel, email).
