Cashier, Retail

Cashier role at The Home Depot. Cashiers provide fast, friendly, accurate and safe service, processing Checkout and/or Return transactions, and monitoring the Self-Checkout area. They proactively seek product knowledge to provide customers with information and identify selling opportunities. They follow policies and procedures to minimize shrink. A Head Cashier will position Cashiers and support them by expediting price checks, approving Point of Sale transactions and markdowns for mainline registers, Self-Checkout, Returns, Pro Desk, Special Services, and Tool Rental.

They provide first-level escalation for customer issues and assist in supervising, coaching and training Front End Associates by participating in the training of new Cashiers and utilizing tools to coach and develop others. Preferred qualification for a Head Cashier is 1+ years of Cashier experience.

• Process Checkout and/or Return transactions; monitor Self-Checkout area.
• Provide customers with information and identify selling opportunities.
• Follow all policies and procedures to minimize shrink.
• Assist Head Cashier by expediting price checks, approving POS transactions and markdowns for mainline registers, Self-Checkout, Returns, Pro Desk, Special Services, and Tool Rental.
• Provide first-level escalation for customer issues.
• Assist in supervision, coaching and training of Front End Associates; participate in training of new Cashiers and use available tools to coach and develop Cashiers.

• 1+ years of cashier experience (preferred).
