Key Responsibilities

  • Execute, monitor, and train inventory best practices and standard operating procedures for the entire store, including front end and pharmacy.
  • Support pharmacy inventory management activities such as receiving, counting, ordering, and facilitating returns.
  • Champion On‑Shelf Availability and manage all in‑store inventory processes, ensuring pricing accuracy and planogram compliance.
  • Review and coordinate the proper use of reports and system applications that impact front end and pharmacy on‑hand balances and pricing.
  • Execute and maintain asset‑protection techniques for front end and pharmacy, filing claims for overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods including prescription drugs.
  • In designated stores, open and close the store in management’s absence, start required systems, handle cash, and ensure the floor and stockroom are ready for business.
Customer Experience
  • Engage customers by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • As leader on duty, resolve customer issues and answer questions, ensuring a positive experience.
  • Model and share customer‑service best practices with all team members, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits.
Operations
  • Execute and coach team members on warehouse and vendor inventory management processes, including order creation, review, and receiving.
  • Scan all deliveries while the vendor is on‑site, focus on One Box receiving, and take appropriate actions for received and missed deliveries.
  • Verify pharmacy shipments under pharmacist-in-charge supervision and complete postings for all pharmacy orders and related inventory.
  • Execute the OSA end‑to‑end process, including disposal, call‑ins, vendor returns, and scan‑outs for all departments and pharmacy.
  • Complete pharmacy inventory activities such as recalls, vendor returns, and salve returns; facilitate excess inventory returns or inter‑store transfers.
  • Perform all pricing activities, including price changes, markdowns, and regulatory pricing tasks for basic departments and inventory systems.
  • Support front end and pharmacy ordering, including expense items, manual order monitoring, and consigned inventory orders.
  • Ensure all pull & quarantine items are updated and placed in designated holding areas.
  • Maintain accurate inventory counts for departments, stockroom, and pharmacy, including smart counts.
  • Enforce state and local laws for regulated products (e.g., alcoholic beverages, tobacco).
  • Assist in maintaining inventory records, organizing invoices/receipts, and preparing for physical inventory days.
  • Support clean, merchandised counters and shelves.
  • Understand all store systems and equipment.
  • Coach team on package delivery activities and Pickup Program execution.
  • As leader on duty, register all sales on POS, handle returns, voids, refunds, cash drops, and provide change.
  • Comply with all company policies, maintain respectful coworker relationships, and complete any additional assigned tasks.
Training & Personal Development
  • Attend company trainings and complete e‑learning modules, including safety requirements.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid pharmacy license/certification as required by state.
Communications
  • Act as liaison between management and non‑management staff, coaching and developing team capabilities with inventory systems.
  • When leader on duty, communicate tasks to team, report disciplinary issues, and customer complaints to management.
Basic Qualifications
  • Six months of prior work experience with Walgreens (internal) or one year of retail experience (external).
  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except Puerto Rico).
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • “Achieving expectations” rating on last review and no written disciplinary actions in the last 12 months (internal only).
  • Attention to detail, multitasking, and execution management.
  • Experience identifying operational issues and recommending/implementing solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience as a shift lead, pharmacy technician, designated hitter, or customer service associate.
  • Prior work experience with Walgreens, with an evaluation on file.
