The General Laborer position is responsible for performing physical and manual labor‑related tasks such as operating the pre‑processing and crushing plant, facility maintenance, cleaning and manually sorting material in a safe and efficient manner. This position requires the ability to work in outdoor conditions during all seasons and in various types of weather. The ideal candidate will have the flexibility to work overtime and various shifts, which may include weekends.
PrimaryResponsibilities (Essential Functions)
- Operates construction or power equipment, such as mechanized broom, Skid Steer, High Reach (man lift), and Water Truck.
- General equipment maintenance (greasing, checking oil, refilling fluids, and fueling equipment), as necessary.
- General compliance and grounds keeping tasks (daily soil pile uncovering/recovering, weed whacking, site cleanup, silt sack replacements, etc.).
- Sort through soil and rocks to remove debris from conveyors and/or by hand.
- Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or repairs to the supervisor; cleans equipment.
- Cleaning materials and removal of soil and debris from various equipment.
- Works with and assists other crew members with soil screeners and rock crushing.
- Able to safely use a variety of tools such as hand tools, grinders, saws, pressure washers, etc.
- Assist other crew members and operators as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma preferred, not required.
- Experience in operating small and heavy equipment preferred.
- Experience working on processing and/or construction sites preferred.
- Safety first mentality.
- Must be able to work in a busy, often distracting work environment.
- Must be comfortable working outdoors and being exposed to very hot or cold temperatures.
- Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
- Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials over long periods of time.
