Position Summary

The Acute Access Manager is responsible for overseeing the registration processes for inpatient services, emergency departments (ED), surgical units, rehabilitation, oncology, wound care, and radiology. This role ensures accuracy and compliance in patient data management while enhancing the patient experience. The manager is pivotal in supervising the Acute Access Team Leads and registration staff, ensuring smooth operations and high‑quality service across all access points within the healthcare system.

Education

An associate or bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as healthcare administration, social work, public health, or a related area required. Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, Business Management, or a related field preferred.

Essential Qualifications

Certification
  • No specific certification is required, but certifications in healthcare access management or administrative management are advantageous.
Licensure
  • Association accredited course in Basic Life Support (BLS) (for clinical staff), or Heartsaver CPR AED (for nonclinical staff), and renewal on a regular basis, with up to a three‑month grace period after the expiration date.
Skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of inpatient and ED workflows.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration.
  • Proficient in monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and analyzing performance data.
Work Experience
  • 3–5 years of leadership experience in acute patient access or a similar healthcare administrative role.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing registration processes and leading teams within a hospital environment.
Essential Functions
  • Oversee and manage acute access operations across all hospital sites to ensure efficient and accurate registration processes.
  • Supervise Acute Access Team Leads and registration staff, providing guidance and support to ensure optimal performance.
  • Ensure the accuracy of patient registration, insurance verification, and authorization processes, maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Collaborate with clinical leaders and departments to optimize registration workflows and enhance interdisciplinary cooperation.
  • Monitor Key Performance Indicators and evaluate staff performance, using data‑driven insights to improve operations.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for team members to foster growth and improve service delivery.
  • Coordinate authorization oversight activities with outsourced vendors to ensure seamless integration and compliance.
