Job Overview
Medical Assistant at the University of New Hampshire. Supports physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and nurses in delivering quality medical care and related administrative services.
Responsibilities- Direct Patient Care (60%) – Performs patient check‑in, vital signs, height, weight, medication reconciliation, allergy review, and documents past medical history.
- Clinical Care (15%) – Performs clinical support functions such as point‑of‑care testing, administering immunizations, obtaining consent, EKGs, phlebotomy, wheelchair transport, crutch fitting, applying splints, peak flow measurement, spirometry, procedure set‑up and assistance, and inputting medical information in EMR.
- Administration (15%) – Registers patients, assigns faxes, schedules appointments, scans documents, answers phones, receives faxes, pre‑authorizations, and processes payments.
- Quality Checks (10%) – Maintains clinical areas, organizes supplies, stocks exam rooms, records refrigerator temperature daily, performs infection control procedures, and conducts quality assurance on point‑of‑care testing.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- One (1) year of medical/clinical assistant experience in a healthcare facility.
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant.
- BLS/CPR certification.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the public.
