Position SummaryThe Controls and Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting electrical control systems for the SCS and OTS facilities. This role requires PLC troubleshooting expertise within a manufacturing environment, a strong understanding of electrical schematics, and the ability to collaborate cross‑functionally to deliver reliable and efficient control solutions.
Responsibilities and Duties(Indicates an essential function)
- Design, develop, and maintain electrical control systems for machinery and automated processes
- Program, test, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and related control hardware
- Create and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts
- Support system commissioning, startup, and on‑site troubleshooting
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers, project managers, and technicians
- Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and company procedures
- Maintain documentation, including manuals, drawings, and software backups
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and system upgrades
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of experience in electrical controls or industrial automation
- Proven PLC troubleshooting experience within a manufacturing environment
- Proven experience troubleshooting Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) in a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems and control panels
- Ability to read and create electrical schematics
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
- PLC programming experience (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, or similar)
- Experience with HMI/SCADA systems
- Experience with VFDs, servo systems, and motion control
- Familiarity with industrial communication networks (Ether Net/IP, Profibus, Modbus, etc.)
- Experience working in manufacturing or industrial environments
- Knowledge of applicable electrical and safety standards (NEC, NFPA, UL, CE)
