POSITION GOAL:
To coordinate the district's efforts to meet the learning needs of all students in the area of reading and language arts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree
Certification:
NH Department of Education
Experience:
Three years experience as teacher and NHDOE Experienced Educator credential
Criminal Record Check:
Required per NH RSA 189:13-a
Pre-Employment Medical Exam:
Required per NH RSA 200:36 and 275:3
EVALUATION:
Performance of position responsibilities will be evaluated annually in accordance with the approved administrative procedure for staff evaluations.
GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS AND
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1.
In-depth knowledge of developmental and remedial instructional practices in the area of reading.
2.
Current knowledge of developments in reading research and the demonstrated ability to integrate these developments into consultations with staff, administration, and parents.
3.
Knowledge of and skill in performance assessment in the areas of reading and written expression.
4.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional literature, policies, and governmental regulations.
5.
Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
6.
Ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedural manuals.
7.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, staff, parents, and the general public.
8.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community.
9.
Ability to apply knowledge of current educational research, theory, and data.
10.
Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw conclusions.
11.
Ability to calculate mathematical procedures and utilize accounting forms to plan and monitor school expenses and prepare annual budgets.
12.
Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and board policies.
13.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.
Work with administration in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the reading/language arts program.
2.
Work with administration and the language arts curriculum committee to evaluate, revise, and implement the reading/language arts curriculum based on effective and developmentally appropriate practices.
3.
Assist administration and language arts coordinator in the development of the reading/language arts budget.
4.
Assist in the selection of reading/language arts instructional materials.
5.
Work with administration to coordinate school wide reading/language arts assessment.
6.
Coordinate monitoring/record keeping of student performance scores in the area of reading/language arts.
7.
Coordinate and facilitate team meetings for designated grade levels.
8.
Assess, prescribe, and assist in the remediation of students with reading difficulties.
9.
Provide direct instruction to students as assigned.
10.
Act as a resource person to staff in the area of reading/language arts.
11.
Assist in planning reading/language arts instruction for students with higher skill levels, as assigned.
12.
Provide model lessons in the classrooms for teachers and para educators as needed.
13.
Coordinate parent involvement activities and meetings as needed.
14.
