SummaryThe Boys & Girls Clubs of Central and Northern New Hampshire is a Cecilia organization that supports 200 staff working in 30 early childhood programs. The Associate Teacher position is responsible for upholding the BGCCNNH mission, supporting children and teachers, and ensuring health and safety. Responsibilities include engaging with children, assisting with cleaning and organizing the classroom, documenting child observations, and learning child development and health and safety practices.
Responsibilities- Creates an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes.
- Responds sensitively to the interests, requests, and needs of individual children, interacts positively, encourages exploration, and uses positive child guidance strategies.
- Provides guidance and role‑modeling to Club members by planning and outlining curriculum to meet individual needs of youth, incorporating elements of an emergent curriculum.
- Establishes and maintains program goals to ensure health and safety of all members.
- Evaluates Club programs continually, tracks outcome metrics, verifies responsiveness to member needs, and addresses gender and cultural diversity.
- Uses child‑observation notes as a tool for curriculum planning, keeping accurate and up‑to‑date records.
- Continuously ensures all members in the assigned group are accounted for by name and face.
- Oversees implementation of NAEYC standards, GSQ, Culture DNA code, and BGCCNNH and CCLU rules and policies regarding safety,_multiple compliance, and best practices.
- Dispenses medication per company policy, administers first aid, and communicates occurrences to families.
- Oversees and assists in cleaning, organizing, and maintaining classroom well‑being and upkeep.
- Supervises proper record‑keeping and weekly reporting, providing data to the Center Director or applicable staff.
- Facilitates open and effective verbal and written communication with families, staff, and children.
- Supervises classroom staff, students, and volunteers; provides regular feedback on performance.
- Supports volunteers, practicum students, and staff by modeling techniques and strategies that connect theory to practice.
- Might lead planning meetings with the teaching team.
- Might increase visibility of Club programs via daily schedule postings and announcements through social media, family emails, etc.
- Associate teacher qualified before November 6, 2017, with a minimum of 9 credits in related coursework or 1,000 hours of supervised child‑care experience in a licensed program.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Knowledge of current teaching methods, principles, and techniques.
- Knowledge of curriculum development.
- Ability to plan and implement quality programs; proven creative and artistic teaching strategies.
- Ability to form developmentally appropriate relationships with children and promote positive behavior.
- Ability to motivate members and manage behavior problems with patience.
- Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
- Ability to communicate with staff, families, and community members in various ways.
- Willingness to maintain the Club dress code, adapt to different learning styles, obtain CPR and First Aid certifications, and drive the Club van if required.
- Must possess a safe driving record and submit a copy to the Operations Director or HR.
- Assists in cleaning and organizing; maintains confidentiality; willing to travel occasionally.
