Responsible for full bid process including:bid advertisement, developing project leads, bid development, subcontractor- vendor solicitation, submittal requirements, project buyouts, cost/revenue-analysis, change orders,bidtabs analysis and assisting in contract administration and project management. Must also be safety focused with strict adherence to Pike Industries’s safety policies.

Perform plan take-offs and be knowledgeable with DOT specifications

Ability to dissect project plans and specifications to determine project critical path, productivity targets, labor, equipment, material and trucking cost estimates

Estimate construction paving projects in identified market area using company software system

Knowledgeable of Construction Market Segment – municipal market matrix (tons/ASP by municipality), competitor backlog and capacity, competitor bonding capacity, key paving customer accounts

Prepare and submit cost estimates for review and bid packages to owners

Manage contracts within territory (Bid‑Build‑Bill)

Oversee a successful project “lifecycle” (Bid Schedule build bill closeout)

Coordination of People and Equipment

Participate in resource scheduling for crews, projects and subcontractors

Work closely with FOB sales team to schedule HMA customers and Pike crews at HMA facilities

Active participation in Company Safety Programs and initiatives

Participate in recruitment of employees

Learn and understand the Company’s estimating system including computer programs, manuals, and forms.

Knowledgeable in paving and milling operations and best practices and key performance indicators

Knowledgeable in the rules and regulations of OSHA, MUTCD, DOT’s

Attend weekly toolbox talks throughout the state and conduct them if necessary.

Be familiar with and ensure proper and timely completion of equipment/vehicle condition report (LMP-68)

Work with the Area Managers, Project Managers, and Superintendents on the preparation of Post Mortems on projects, for the purpose of learning where costs were underestimated or overestimated, and for the identification of improved revenue allocation.
