Position Summary
This is a seasonal role from June – August and supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Program Lead provides overall leadership and management in a specific program area. Responsibilities include implementing safe and engaging activities appropriate for the age group, supervising counselors, maintaining a clean and safe environment, ensuring program equipment is well cared for, communicating supply needs in a timely manner, and conducting program evaluation.
The Program Lead serves as a member of the program team and works collaboratively with peers to ensure the success of all program areas at camp.

Specific Responsibilities / Requirements- Oversee day‑to‑day operations of all fishing programs for campers entering grades 3rd – 9th.
- Teach campers fishing techniques including drop lines and casting rods.
- Maintain strict safety protocol for the use of fishing equipment according to Camp Lincoln policy.
- Maintain a high level of cleanliness in the fishing shed, including frequent organizing and cleaning of equipment.
- Prepare supplies for activities ahead of program start time.
- Delegate and support staff assigned to fishing in facilitating activities and providing supervision.
- Working knowledge of fishing techniques and equipment care preferred.
- Report all program supply needs to Program Coordinators and Assistant Camp Director in a timely manner.
- Utilize curriculums to introduce campers to ecological knowledge regarding fish species and the lake.
- Teaching/Facilitation/Classroom experience preferred.
- Facilitate a safe, fun, and rewarding experience for all campers while serving as a role model embodying Camp Lincoln’s four core values:
Respect, Honesty, Caring, and Responsibility. - Responsible for the entire operation of the program area.
- Responsible for the supervision and safety of all campers in the program area, with special considerations for safety as required for high‑risk activities.
- Collaborate with other Program Leads, Program Coordinators, and the Assistant Camp Director to support delivery of high‑quality daily programming and special events across camp.
- Plan and execute an innovative, engaging, and age‑appropriate camp program.
- Work creatively to innovate the program area and curriculum.
- Provide feedback to counselors regarding their program and skill classes.
- Build positive relationships with campers, parents, caregivers, staff, and camp leadership.
- Facilitate an effective and fair skill‑class sign‑up process for campers.
- Maintain a safe and clean program area – trash is picked up, equipment inspected routinely, area organized, and space set up prior to activities.
- Maintain inventory of program supplies and communicate needs and purchases to the Assistant Camp Director in a timely manner.
- Remain calm during an emergency and carry out duties as designated by the Emergency Action Plan.
- Attend all Family Nights, staff meetings, and lifeguard in‑services (as needed).
- Provide effective and timely communication to the Summer Program Coordinators.
- Adhere to policies related to maintaining appropriate boundaries with staff, campers, and CITs.
- Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations to a direct supervisor in a timely manner.
- Attend required child abuse risk management training and follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.

- Minimum of 2 years leadership and childcare/camp experience.
- Strong collaborative and teamwork skills.
- Ability to serve as a positive role model for campers, peers, and other staff.
