Location: Aberdeen Regional Hospital, 835 East River Road, New Glasgow, Nova Scotia
Shifts: 12-hour shifts (Days, Nights, Evenings, Weekends, and Holidays)
Pay Rate: $80
Tahir Medix Staffing is seeking experienced Travel Registered Nurses (RNs) to join the Medical/Surgical Inpatient Unit at Aberdeen Regional Hospital
. This unit provides comprehensive care, with half dedicated to general surgery and medicine overflow
, while the other half serves as the zones orthopedic unit
. This opportunity is ideal for RNs looking to enhance their surgical and medical care expertise in a dynamic hospital environment.
- Aberdeen Regional Hospital is a key healthcare facility in northern Nova Scotia, delivering a wide range of surgical and medical services
. - The Medical/Surgical Inpatient Unit includes:
- General Surgery and Medicine Overflow
- Orthopedic Unit serving the zone's surgical patients
- Staff-to-patient ratio: Typically 1:4, with a minimum of 1:5 on lower staffing days.
- 12-hour shifts
, including days, nights, evenings, weekends, and holidays
. - Day Shift: 0700 - 1900
- Night Shift: 1900 - 0700
- Applicants are encouraged to complete all or the majority of the assignment
. Time‑off requests should be submitted at the time of application.
- Coordinate and direct overall nursing care in surgical and medical settings.
- Provide pre‑operative and post‑operative care
, including assessments, interventions, and continuous monitoring of surgical patients. - Perform complex wound care, IV therapy, pain management
, and other post‑surgical nursing interventions. - Collaborate with surgeons, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and achieve positive patient and family outcomes.
- Administer medications, assess patient conditions, and update care plans.
- Ensure accurate documentation in accordance with Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA) guidelines
. - Contribute to the efficient and effective functioning of the unit.
- Active RN License in Nova Scotia
- Minimum one year of recent experience in a surgical or medical inpatient unit
- Mandatory certifications: BLS, ACLS
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to manage complex patient care
- Experience in general surgery, orthopedic care, or post‑operative nursing is an asset
- Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative care team
