Learning in Geography, Humanities, Technology, and Science (LIGHTS) has been advancing scientific education since 2003, with a focus on knowledge and wisdom for societal progress. It publishes scientific books and magazines on India's untold science history. Known for delivering technical education to schools and colleges, it has also significantly strengthened capacity-building among educators and professionals. LIGHTS organises high-level workshops and conferences, such as the reputable Science and Geopolitics of Arctic-Antarctic (SaGAA), and senior government official training under the PARI programme.

Additionally, LIGHTS shapes public policy, particularly in cryospheric sciences, and publishes the Geography and You journal in Hindi and English. The organisation is headquartered in New Delhi.

Role
A graphic designer for LIGHTS must hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree. We need to create visual concepts that apply art principles to communicate ideas, branding, and modules.

Key Responsibilities
Conceptualisation & Design:
Develop creative concepts, layouts, and illustrations for training modules, web, print and social media.
Technical Execution:
Use tools like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign to produce high-quality, finalised graphics.

Collaboration:

Work with research teams, art directors, and copywriters to align designs with project goals.
Visual Strategy:
Apply advanced knowledge of typography, colour theory, and layout principles to enhance user experience and engagement.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Education:

A Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field.
Portfolio: A strong portfolio demonstrating proficiency in design, illustration, and creative problem-solving.
Technical

Skills:

Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and, ideally, basic knowledge of HTML/CSS, photography, or motion graphics.
Artistic Foundation:
Knowledge of traditional art techniques, composition, and visual design principles.

Soft Skills:

Strong communication skills to present ideas, ability to work in a team, and attention to detail.

Salary
Between INR 30,000 and 40,000 per month (in hand), based on experience.
Approximately 3 years of experience qualify you for the Junior Designer role.
4+ or more years of experience qualify you for the Senior Designer role.
