Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to child at school and at home.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Monitor and document the child's health status throughout the day.
- Be prepared to respond to medical emergencies and provide appropriate interventions.
- Assist with medical devices such as feeding tubes, tracheostomies, oxygen, nebulizer and catheters as needed.
- Collaborate with school staff, family, and healthcare providers.
- Ensure compliance with the care plan developed by the RN Case Manager and physician.
- Document care daily and communicate updates with Sunshine Homecare Services and RN case manager.
- Use appropriate infection control procedures and safety measures.
- Comply with all company policies, practices, and procedures.
- Graduate of an accredited RN program.
- Current NY State RN license in good standing.
- Minimum 2 Years of Pediatric Nursing Experience preferred.
- Experience in school or community health nursing is a plus.
- Valid Nursing Degree/Diploma.
- Active New York State RN License.
- Current CPR Certification.
- Strong pediatric care skills required.
- Excellent communication with children, families, and staff.
- Ability to handle emergency situations calmly.
- Organized and detail‑oriented documentation skills.
- Knowledge of infection control and safety procedures.
- Ability to remain on school premises for scheduled hours.
- Ability to assist with student mobility and transfers to and from school and when home.
