Job Summary:

The Plant Maintenance Technician A is responsible for the installation, repair, maintenance, and overall upkeep of the organization's industrial machinery, equipment, and facilities. This position requires availability for emergencies and scheduled overtime repairs.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Essential Responsibilities:

• Mechanical repairs of facility operating equipment.
• Mechanical repairs to building structures.
• Painting.
• Insulation work.
• Fiberglass repairs.
• Welding and pipe fitting.
• Operate and repair mobile equipment.
• Concrete layout and installation.
• Pump repair, including rebuilding, alignment, and installation.
• Preventive maintenance of equipment.
• Completion of work orders, including entering completed data into the current program for maintenance repairs and preventive maintenance work orders.
• Occasionally perform electrical repairs to equipment including motor and wiring removal or installation.
• Troubleshoot and perform DCS repairs on rare occasions.
• Occasionally perform instrumentation calibrations, replacements, or repairs.
• Work with other employees to complete projects, resolve problems, and repair plant equipment.
• Make repairs at the Transportation shop or to transportation equipment on rare occasions.
• Keep the Maintenance Supervisor or Planner well informed of any materials or supplies needed as they are used.
• Perform other related work as directed by supervision or the lead.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Must be able to pass a 10-panel controlled substance testing and random testing thereafter.
• Must be able to pass a background investigation check and maintain in good standing order, as per TSA's TWIC criteria.
• Must be able to properly and safely use shop equipment such as a lathe, milling machine, drill press, band saw, pipe threader, etc.
• Must be able to properly and safely operate a cutting torch, plasma cutter, or other burning/cutting equipment.
• Must be able to read and understand equipment data sheets and drawings.
• Must be able to read blueprints and fabricate or make repairs from drawings.
• Must be able to lay out, measure, and design piping and fabrication layouts.
• Must be able to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems.

Education and Experience:

• Must have journeyman-level proficiency in one of the required trades with good working knowledge of the remaining. (Millwright, Welding, Pipe fitting, Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic Fabrication and Repairs, Electrical, Pump Specialist, other Related Trade School Certification).
• Preferred trade proficiency - Millwright.

Physical Requirements:

• Frequently climbs stairs and ladders.
• Frequently bends, stands, lifts up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to work outdoors in different climate conditions.
• Able to kneel, squat, crawl occasionally.
• Must be able to walk on secure elevated process platforms heights greater than 15 feet.
• Must have the capability of using Fall Protection Equipment.
• Able to operate a powered industrial vehicle.
