ResponsibilitiesFleet Mechanic
Job Summary:
Perform diagnostic tests for routine maintenance procedures and determine a course of action for damaged parts and systems. Repair malfunctioning components, retrofit engines, change brakes, adjust steering systems, replace worn-out parts, and change hydraulic fluids.
- Input daily repair reports into software-based tracking program
- Complete pre-trip truck inspections to prioritize work accordingly
- Use a wide variety of hand and power tools, cutting torches and welding equipment
- Diagnose, service and repair various systems found on heavy equipment, including mechanical and computer electronic controls, air brake systems, transmissions (computer controlled automatic and manual), and pneumatic systems
- Participate in reviewing operational and mechanical safety-related issues associated with the fleet
- Perform routine preventative maintenance such as lubricating, oil changes, and failure analysis
- Perform routine brake inspections/adjustments on commercial vehicles following Federal DOT requirements
- Create work orders for repairs and services with legible and accurate information
- Communicate with drivers and managers to ensure adherence to preventative vehicle maintenance policies and practices
- Order parts from approved vendors and drive company pickup/repair truck to pick up parts when needed
- Experience performing PM related services
- Valid driver’s license: CDL Preferred (Will Train)
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
- Experience in diagnosing and repairing light, medium and heavy-duty trucks (A Plus)
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment and random drug screening required by DOT
