Fleet Mechanic

Job Summary:

Perform diagnostic tests for routine maintenance procedures and determine a course of action for damaged parts and systems. Repair malfunctioning components, retrofit engines, change brakes, adjust steering systems, replace worn-out parts, and change hydraulic fluids.

• Input daily repair reports into software-based tracking program
• Complete pre-trip truck inspections to prioritize work accordingly
• Use a wide variety of hand and power tools, cutting torches and welding equipment
• Diagnose, service and repair various systems found on heavy equipment, including mechanical and computer electronic controls, air brake systems, transmissions (computer controlled automatic and manual), and pneumatic systems
• Participate in reviewing operational and mechanical safety-related issues associated with the fleet
• Perform routine preventative maintenance such as lubricating, oil changes, and failure analysis
• Perform routine brake inspections/adjustments on commercial vehicles following Federal DOT requirements
• Create work orders for repairs and services with legible and accurate information
• Communicate with drivers and managers to ensure adherence to preventative vehicle maintenance policies and practices
• Order parts from approved vendors and drive company pickup/repair truck to pick up parts when needed

• Experience performing PM related services
• Valid driver’s license: CDL Preferred (Will Train)
• High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
• Experience in diagnosing and repairing light, medium and heavy-duty trucks (A Plus)
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment and random drug screening required by DOT
