Charge Nurse (RN) – Position SummaryThe Charge Nurse delivers quality care consistent with the scope of practice for Registered Nurses, while supervising nursing activities and personnel. The Charge Nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for the quality of care, promotes a safe environment, and acts as a patient advocate to ensure high-quality health care delivery in the facility. The Charge Nurse also serves as a leader to promote best practices within the nursing profession.
Minimum Requirements- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment
- Active CPR certification
- Knowledge of applicable state laws and regulations governing practice
- Initial and annual clinical competencies as assigned by role
- Directly supervise one shift with 24-hour responsibility for nursing and paraprofessional personnel
- Participate in recruitment and orientation of new nursing personnel
- Attend in-service trainings, staff meetings, and policy development discussions
- Develop and implement policies and procedures with the Director of Nursing
- Schedule evaluation conferences and participate in performance evaluations
- Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team on health reviews
- Supervise nursing care documentation and treatment records
- Plan and supervise nursing care techniques and emergency medical care per facility policy
- Act as liaison between nursing staff and Health Services Administrator; support problem solving to improve care delivery
- Ensure security of medications, supplies, and equipment
- Prepare and submit daily, monthly, and annual medical records/reports
- Attend staff and administrative meetings as requested
- Maintain accountability for nursing care during shift
- Assess patient condition on admission and ongoing; participate in plan of care development and evaluation; communicate patient status to physicians; carry out physician orders
- Administer medications and treatments as ordered in accordance with facility protocol
- Maintain documentation of health care needs and patient responses
- Other duties as assigned
- Full-Time, Night Shift (must be available for at least 3-6 weeks onsite training)
- 12 Hour Shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Rotating Weekends
