Director of Product Management – Rheology and Mechanical Testing

Reporting to Vice President of R&D and Product Solutions

We are looking for a strategic thinker, strong executor, and inspiring leader to fill an important role as Director of Product Management – Rheology and Mechanical Testing at Waters TA Instruments. This senior-level leader will develop and implement worldwide product strategies and roadmaps for the Rheology and Mechanical Testing product lines.

• Establish and implement business strategy and product roadmaps aligned with company goals and market demands.
• Oversee all new product opportunities and enhancement of existing products, collaborating with Commercial and R&D stakeholders.
• Communicate strategic directions, product status, delivery details, and desired outcomes throughout the organization.

• Develop new product strategies and high-performing, reliable, cost-effective products for evolving customer needs.
• Create product definitions outlining strategies, positioning, target customers, claims, key features and specifications.
• Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify emerging trends, customer insights and new opportunities.
• Manage the development of customer needs, product requirements and financial models to support new product innovations.

• Oversee the development and implementation of new product launch strategies, ensuring alignment and execution with internal stakeholders.
• Guide customer-facing teams on go-to-market execution, product messaging and sales enablement materials/demos.
• Recommend and set pricing structure for new and existing products based on positioning and competitive landscape.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders and opinion leaders.

• Build, train, develop and manage a world-class product management team to achieve sustained business growth and innovation.
• Champion business planning and innovation, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and execution excellence.

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry or Life Sciences.
• Preferred: MBA in Marketing and Management, Ph.D. in science or engineering, or related fields.
• 10+ years of market-specific experience within global materials characterization markets, with expertise in rheology and mechanical testing a plus.
• Strong product management experience developing product roadmaps and line plans.
• Demonstrated knowledge of customer needs, market requirements, product requirements and financial models.
• Proven track record of managing teams and driving product marketing, new product development and launches.
• Experience with project management techniques, budgeting, forecasting and maintaining timelines.
• Strategy development, business and operational planning, financial management, change leadership, staff development.
• Leadership qualities: accountability, customer focus, results-oriented, team builder, flexible, innovative.
