The incumbent will oversee operations of the Delaware Psychiatric Center treatment units, conducting rounds to assure adherence to hospital policies, coordinating clinical and administrative activities, responding to emergencies, and promoting a therapeutic milieu based on the Recovery Model and Trauma‑Informed Care.

Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of every job duty for any one position in the class.

• Provide or evaluate direct nursing care.
• Develop, implement, and review nursing care plans.
• Provide health‑care instruction and guidance to individuals, families, community groups, and nursing home facilities.
• Maintain effective working relationships with the treatment team.
• Prepare and submit records, reports, evaluations, and forms.
• Participate in and make recommendations regarding quality assurance activities.

Applicants must have:

• At least three years’ experience as a Registered Nurse in Psychiatric Nursing, OR a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing with at least two years of experience as an RN in Psychiatric Nursing, OR a Master’s degree or higher in Nursing with at least one year of experience as an RN in Psychiatric Nursing.
• Possession of a Delaware Registered Nurse license OR multi‑state compact license.
• Knowledge of staff supervision acquired through coursework, academic training, employer training, or experience as a lead worker overseeing the work of others.

This is a casual/seasonal, non‑pension eligible position without healthcare and/or other benefits. This posting may be closed on or before 7/15/2026 upon filling the vacant position(s).

All new hires must attend an in‑person, statewide mandatory New Employee Orientation on their first day of employment. A satisfactory criminal background check is required and must be covered by the applicant at an estimated cost of $85.00. Pre‑employment drug testing and a 2‑Step TB/PPD test are also required. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. DHSS does not provide employment‑based sponsorship.
