Position OverviewAn established and growing company in the power and industrial services sector is seeking an experienced Valve Technician to support inspection, repair, testing, and maintenance of industrial valves and related equipment. This role involves a combination of shop-based work and field service, with regular travel throughout New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut, and occasional travel outside the region during peak seasons.
This position is ideal for a seasoned valve professional with a strong background in the power generation, OEM, or industrial valve industry, who takes pride in precision, safety, and high-quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities- Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble a wide range of industrial and power-generation valves
- Perform valve testing, calibration, and troubleshooting in accordance with specifications and standards
- Diagnose mechanical issues and recommend corrective actions
- Read, interpret, and work from technical drawings, schematics, and OEM specifications
- Complete field service work at customer sites, including outage and peak-season support
- Maintain accurate service reports, inspection documentation, and work records
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
- Properly use and maintain hand tools, power tools, and specialized testing equipment
- Represent the company professionally when interacting with customers and site personnel
- 6–10+ years of hands-on valve technician experience (required)
- Prior experience in valve repair, maintenance, and field service within the power or industrial sector
- Industry background with OEMs or power-related valve work strongly preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings, specifications, and procedures
- Proven safety-first mindset and quality-driven work ethic
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel regularly
- Ability to pass a drug screening and background check
- Experience working during outages or peak-season demand
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently in the field and collaboratively in a shop environment
- Reliable, punctual, and professional demeanor
- Willingness to travel and adapt to changing work locations
- Regular travel throughout NJ, NY, PA, and CT
- Occasional travel outside the Northeast during peak or outage seasons
- Overnight travel may be required at times
- Salary Range: $100,000 – $150,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications
