Research areas include plant biology, plant breeding, and turfgrass genetics. Students gain experiential learning on campus and in the surrounding research farm network.

Rutgers University is seeking a Seasonal Agricultural Worker – Turfgrass Breeding Program for the Department of Plant Biology. Under supervision, the Seasonal Agricultural Worker helps to establish and maintain turfgrass research areas on farm and in greenhouses.

• Handle watering, cutting, planting, establishing, and weeding research trials on research farms and in greenhouses.
• Assist in establishment of breeding trials, collect plant tissue, harvest seed, isolate/preparation/threshing, and weigh.
• Develop and utilize various plant propagation techniques.
• Assist PI or researchers in data collection and analysis.

• High school/vocational school education or equivalent experience.
• Ability to work in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision once trained.
• Interest in plant biology, plant breeding, or related discipline (preferred).
• Experience working with plant care or in an agricultural field or farm setting (preferred).

• Work in extreme weather conditions (rainy, windy, cold temperatures).

• Work week is 40 hours per week from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for up to 6 months of consecutive service.
