- Performs experiments to reduce transition and rare earth metal ions to metals.
- Performs nitridation studies on some or all of them.
$20 - $25 per hour.

Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Engineering, or a related scientific/technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant laboratory technician or research study experience carrying out research protocols and tests, or other technical work may be substituted for the degree.
- Laboratory safety methodology, such as the appropriate use of fume hoods, hazardous organic and inorganic chemicals, and proper use of high‑temperature furnaces.
- Experience working in a laboratory.
- Experience handling pyrophoric materials.
- Familiarity with organic and inorganic chemistry.
- Knowledge of inert atmosphere handling procedures.
- Schlenk glassware, glovebox usage and maintenance, particle size, thermal analysis, x‑ray diffraction, and infrared spectroscopy instrumentation.
