The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey. The compensation offered will depend on factors including education, skills and professional experience.
- Job Specific Requirements include planning and providing traditional and individualized comfort measures; creating a climate for healing; serving as an advocate to patients and families by providing information and opportunities to participate in goal setting.
- Teaching and coaching functions: identify patient readiness to learn, formulate and implement individual teaching plans, document outcomes; interpret conditions and provide rationales to satisfy patient and family needs; plan for and document patient needs.
- Manage rapidly changing situations in life threatening emergencies, reset priorities according to clinical demands, initiate appropriate interventions and document outcomes.
- Diagnostic and monitoring: detect and document significant changes in patient conditions; interpret and diagnose changes; plan and document interventions to achieve outcomes; ensure care is appropriate to the age of patients served (infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric).
- Collaborate with physicians and health care team to determine appropriate interventions.
- Administer and monitor therapeutic interventions and regimens as per RWJUH policies; administer medications accurately and safely; document according to Nursing Process and hospital standards.
- Monitor and ensure the quality of health care practices; facilitate appropriate responses from team members; obtain physician prescriptions to reflect care regimens; participate in quality improvement and performance analysis meetings.
- Contribute to a therapeutic environment by supporting charge and preceptor responsibilities; follow policies and procedures; maintain high standards of care; demonstrate flexibility and teamwork.
- Follows dress code, attendance, punctuality; complete mandatory training; participate in continuing education; adhere to infection control standards and patient safety initiatives.
- Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Licensure:
Currently licensed to practice in New Jersey or eligible for licensure. - Certifications:
BLS Certification; PALS/ACLS Certification (Required). - Experience:
Acute care experience preferred. - Work environment and hazards:
Exposure to blood, infections, hazardous materials; ability to work under stress and rapidly changing conditions. - Physical demands:
Ability to reach, push, pull, lift, walk and stand for most of shift.
