Overview

Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC), established in 1971, offers a full continuum of evidence-based behavioral health and addiction services for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors throughout New Jersey. UB has 1,060 experienced behavioral health professionals and support staff dedicated to treatment, prevention, and education. As one of the largest providers of behavioral health care in the country, UBHC operates 15 sites across New Jersey with a $260 million budget.

Services include inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization, screening, crisis stabilization, family/caregiver support, community outreach, case management, supportive housing, supported employment, prevention and consultation, employee assistance programs, and a licensed therapeutic school from preschool through high school. Specialty services such as the New Jersey suicide prevention helpline and peer help.false lines for police, veterans, active military, teachers, mothers of special needs children, and child protective service workers.

In FY2016, UBHC treated 16,199 consumers, had 24,502 admissions, and reached explosively 19,441 callers through peer support. UBHC also incremental delivers 16,000 trainings annually to the New Jersey departments of Human Services, Children and Families, and Corrections.

Posting Summary

Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, seeks an Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) in the Acute Psychiatric Services (APS) and Children’s Crisis Intervention Services (CCIS) of Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care. The ANM will supervise the provision and management of patient care services for an assigned shift or unit on a consistent basis. The ANM serves as a resource for nursing care across the system, works with other health professionals to optimize patient outcomes, promotes quality patient care, patient safety and customer satisfaction, explains and applies policies and procedures, and participates in quality improvement, education, and research endeavors.

The role aligns with the scope and standards outlined by the American Psychiatric Nurses Association for Psychiatric–Mental Health Nursing.

  • Assures delivery of quality patient care through direct supervision of clinical staff.
  • Ensures completion of admission nursing assessment and ongoing risk assessments per unit standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Supervises staff in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating delivery of care.
  • Assists with patient care responsibilities when required.
  • Demonstrates ability to set appropriate priorities in directing patient care.

Qualifications
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey and a minimum of two (2) years of progressively more responsible nursing experience, one (1) of which must be in the service to which the candidate is applying.
