Overview
The George Street Co-op is a non-profit natural foods store owned and run by its members. We sell vegetarian foods with the greatest nutritional value possible, and only minimal processing or additives. The Co-op offers fresh organic produce, bulk foods, vitamins & herbs, body care and earth-friendly products, gifts, and more. The George Street Co-op is looking for someone to lead our Product Committee.
Our Product Committee manages all product-related activities. From sourcing new local and sustainable goods to ensuring our shelves are stocked with the items our members want most, this role is ideal for someone who loves food and has an interest in product selection. The Product Committee helps ensure that the Co-ops products meet our standards and that we source from businesses that uphold workers dignity, animals, and the planet.
Responsibilities- Lead the Product Committee and guide product-related initiatives
- Source new local and sustainable goods
- Maintain shelves with items our members want most
- Ensure products align with vegan/vegetarian focus and certifications (organic, non-GMO, fair trade, cruelty-free)
- Uphold standards related to workers dignity, animal welfare, and environmental impact
- Assist with preparing policy proposals as needed
- Skilled communicator
- Competent researcher
- Willing to assist with policy proposals
