Rutgers University is seeking a Program Coordinator I – Marketing for the OCPE. The role is responsible for the creative development and management of OCPE’s marketing presence for a broad audience, including state, national, and international stakeholders. The position reports to the Assistant Director of OCPE at NJAES – Cooperative Extension.
Responsibilities- Coordinate, plan, schedule, write, design, and edit marketing campaigns and advertisements to increase attendance and revenue for OCPE’s program portfolio.
- Cultivate current customer prospects and develop new prospects across multiple platforms.
- Provide timely and helpful responses to customer inquiries regarding courses and programs.
- Maintain working knowledge of OCPE’s programs and audiences to understand how they intersect with each other and with the mission, vision, and goals of OCPE, the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station, Cooperative Extension, and the university.
- Apply knowledge of marketing principles and practices; use related concepts, theories, and terminology to produce effective marketing materials.
- Complete work under general supervision, following established guidelines with minimal direct instruction.

: $60,000 – $62,500
Minimum Salary
: $59,893.48
Mid‑Range Salary
: $73,909.48
Maximum Salary
: $87,925.48

Work Status & HoursFull‑time, 37.5 standard hours per week. The position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement per Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 and collective bargaining agreements. Flexible arrangements are not permanent and require formal approval through the Flex Work@RU Application System.
QualificationsMinimum Education and Experience
:
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communication, journalism, English, or a related field, OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience and two years of experience that demonstrates knowledge and skills in marketing, public relations, or promotional advertising.
- Proficiency in customer relationship management software, email marketing software, digital marketing best practices, photo editing software (Adobe Photoshop preferred), digital design tools (Adobe InDesign or Canva), SEO techniques, social media marketing, paid advertising platforms (Google Ads, Facebook Ads, etc.), and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work with a diverse group with tact and diplomacy.
- Self‑starter who can meet customers in person and on the phone, take initiative, and demonstrate competency in tasks such as interview-based promotions, ad campaign creation, and prospect development.
- Excellent planning skills for managing a busy workflow while remaining adaptable to changes and time‑sensitive requests.
- Motivation to apply past professional experience while learning new skills and strategies to support the marketing unit and OCPE.
- Four years of relevant experience in a marketing or sales role and demonstrated computer literacy in industry standard software.
- Project management, critical thinking, and creative problem‑solving skills.
- Effective customer service and collaborative skills.
