Job Description

The Director, Scientific Licensing, Neuroscience is a key member of the IM BD team, responsible for advancing the Neuroscience external innovation strategy by identifying and evaluating opportunities aligned with therapeutic priorities. The role builds strategic internal and external scientific relationships, leads opportunity scouting and assessment, and oversees diligence teams across the R&D matrix.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accountable for identification of target opportunities and companies via a detailed screening process.
  • Build strategic and scientific relationships with representatives of target companies and with KOLs.
  • Lead the scientific evaluation of opportunities, coordinating and managing the formal due diligence process across R&D.
  • Collaborate with the commercial assessment team to provide scientific input and ensure evaluation addresses key value drivers.
  • Collaborate with TA department heads and VP BD/Sr. Director Licensing for Neuroscience to ensure resources are engaged efficiently in evaluating licensing opportunities.
  • Ensure all opportunities meet internal portfolio standards of scientific excellence, identify and communicate risks, and capture mitigation strategies.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of processes, templates, and data capture systems to attain the highest professional standards.
  • Work closely with External Innovation teams to ensure seamless neuroscience execution.
Education & Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Master’s degree required;
    PhD or MD preferred.
  • At least 7 years of experience in Drug Discovery or Drug Development within an industry setting.
  • Expertise in Neuroscience therapy area.
  • Experience fostering relationships with KOLs and external partners.
  • Leadership skills and strong interpersonal communication.
  • Up to 30 % domestic and international travel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience participating in scientific due diligence teams.
  • High self‑drive and an aspirational demeanor.

  • Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.

Compensation & Benefits

Base pay range: $150,000 – $258,750. Eligible for an annual performance bonus and long‑term incentive program. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, and retirement plan (401(k)). Time‑off includes vacation (up to 120 hours/year), sick time (up to 40 hours/year), holiday pay (up to 13 days/year), and other benefits. Materials available at
