Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a per diem Pharmacy Technician for the department of Medicine at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Under the direction of the Director of Adult Cystic Fibrosis Program, the Pharmacy Technician - Per Diem will support both the Adult and Pediatric Cystic Fibrosis (CF) programs by assisting with medication access, education, and patient support.

This role ensures timely and effective pharmacy services within a multidisciplinary Cystic Fibrosis care team, with the goal of improving treatment adherence and patient outcomes.

Responsibilities include:

  • Facilitates prior authorizations, insurance claims, and specialty pharmacy coordination for Cystic Fibrosis-specific medications (e.g., CFTR modulators, inhaled antibiotics).
  • Monitors and tracks prescription refills; escalates delays or denials to supervising pharmacist or care team.
  • Liaises with patient assistance programs and foundations for financial support applications.
  • Educates patients and families on medication delivery tools and schedules, under supervision of the Supervising Pharmacist or Director of Cystic Fibrosis Program.
  • Provides adherence aids and educational handouts as directed by the Cystic Fibrosis care team.
  • Attends Cystic Fibrosis clinic sessions or team weekly meetings, as scheduled to align on patient needs.
  • Communicates pharmacy-related issues and follow-ups to the CF team promptly.
