Pay Range: $17.46 – $23.54 per hour

Job Overview: Under the supervision of a Recreational Therapist, Child Life Specialist, or certified program instructor, assist in provision of community recreation programs for children and youth with disabilities, including adaptive aquatics, martial arts, camps, evening recreation, and social activities.

• Assist in coordination of programs, including phone calls, data entry, and other office tasks
• Communicate effectively with participants, families, volunteers, and staff
• Monitor and maintain inventory of general supplies and equipment, order supplies accurately and timely
• Complete documentation on day of service
• C‑lean departmental equipment and organize supplies; take initiative to organize and clean other areas as needed
• Assist department staff in planning and implementation of programs and special events
• Orient and supervise volunteers and community groups according to hospital policy
• Assess and evaluate participant level of functioning to determine appropriate activities and adaptations under guidance
• Perform other duties as assigned based on department needs

• High school diploma or equivalent within 6 months
• AHA BLS Provider Certification
• Valid Driver's License
• Previous work experience with children with special needs or experience with children
• Strong time management, interpersonal skills, and initiative
• Ability to plan activities and adapt to environment for various disabling conditions
• Tact, enthusiasm, initiative, and judgment in performance of duties
• Working knowledge of basic Microsoft Office applications and PC use
• Flexibility related to scheduled hours each week

• Higher Education
• Fluency in Spanish
• Experience working with challenging behaviors

• AHA BLS Provider Certification
• Valid Driver's License
