Posting SummaryRutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking a Per Diem I for Bayside State Prison, located in Leesburg, NJ. The Technician I will participate as a member of the clinical and administrative medical team at the Prison.
- Take vital signs, height, weight, and document in electronic medical records.
- Assist the physician/associate practitioner with procedures, including preparing the inmate for the examination.
- Obtain specimen collection and handling, including drawing blood.
- Assist with cleaning, sterilization, and securing of equipment within the Health Service Unit.
- Maintain or assist in maintaining the supply stock in the Health Service Unit by ordering in a timely and appropriate manner; maintain supply stock in the examination rooms.
- Aggregate the orders of all medications and forward them to the pharmacy provider / local pharmacy.
- Perform all duties described in the posting summary.
- Adhere to policies, procedures, and documentation standards set by UCHC and Rutgers.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism when interacting with inmates, staff, and guests.
- Participate in quality improvement activities and training programs as required.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Valid Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification required.
- At least two (2) years of progressively responsible related healthcare experience involving multiple areas of knowledge, skill, and ability, and demonstrating competencies to perform the essential duties of the position.
- CPR certification.
- Valid Driver’s License; must possess own vehicle or alternative means of transportation between sites.
Must have the physical capacity to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes. Must be physically able to lift and rotate patients who are unable to ambulate (up to 50 pounds).
Special ConditionsMust be approved by the Department of Corrections (DOC) and adhere to all DOC requirements.

Salary: $18.45 per hour. Salary will be determined by factors including qualifications, experience, and departmental funding.

Rotating. Full onsite work arrangement required.
