POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking an experienced Relationship Manager III – Asset-Based Lending (ABL) to originate, structure, and manage complex asset-based lending relationships. This role is responsible for driving new business, managing a portfolio of ABL clients, and partnering with internal teams to deliver comprehensive banking solutions. The ideal candidate brings deep ABL expertise, a strong business development track record, and the ability to mentor junior team members.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Asset-Based Lending Origination & Relationship Management
  • Originate, evaluate, and structure complex asset-based lending transactions in accordance with bank policies, credit standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proactively develop new business opportunities and expand existing client relationships to drive profitable loan and fee income growth.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships while identifying opportunities to cross-sell additional bank products and services.
  • Manage an assigned ABL loan portfolio with a focus on covenant compliance, credit quality, accurate risk ratings, and ongoing collateral and field exam review.
  • Oversee preparation of loan presentations, including detailed financial and credit analysis, risk assessment, and recommended loan structures.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and proactively identify, mitigate, and elevate emerging risks as appropriate.
Loan Closing, Documentation & Internal Collaboration
  • Facilitate loan closings and review ABL legal documentation to ensure compliance with approved terms and conditions.
  • Partner closely with Credit, Loan Operations, Legal, and other internal teams to ensure efficient execution and ongoing administration of lending relationships.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and subject-matter support to junior lending professionals (no direct people management responsibilities).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (required).

Experience

  • 15+ years of asset-based lending experience with demonstrated success in complex credit structures and new business generation.

Skills & Expertise

  • Comprehensive expertise in loan structuring, financial analysis, and credit risk assessment.
  • Proven business development and relationship management capabilities.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as ABL-specific software (e.g., Stucky or similar platforms).
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is mainly performed in a normal office environment. Noise levels usually are moderate. May also involve travel to customers and property locations.

  • Occasional bending or overhead lifting (storing files or boxes)
  • The hazards are mainly those present in a normal office setting.
