Techno is seeking a Civil Inspector to join our growing construction management team on a high-profile rail infrastructure project in Northern New Jersey. This is an opportunity to work on complex site and transportation improvements that directly impact regional mobility, safety, and long-term infrastructure resilience. WhatYou’ll Do
- Perform daily field inspections of civil construction activities including earthwork, drainage systems, utilities, foundations, paving, and site improvements
- Monitor contractor compliance with project plans, specifications, and safety standards
- Coordinate with Resident Engineers, Office Engineers, and project controls staff to track progress and document field conditions
- Review material deliveries and verify compliance with approved submittals
- Maintain detailed daily reports, field logs, quantity tracking, and photo documentation
- Observe testing activities (compaction, concrete, asphalt, etc.) and verify results meet specifications
- Identify non‑conforming work and support resolution through documentation and follow‑up
- Participate in progress meetings and provide status updates on field activities
- 5+ years of civil inspection experience on heavy civil, transportation, rail, or public infrastructure projects
- Strong knowledge of site construction practices, grading, drainage, utilities, and concrete work
- Ability to interpret plans, technical specifications, and shop drawings
- Experience documenting field activities in electronic reporting systems
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred
- ACI, NICET, or other relevant certifications are a plus
- Prior experience working on projects for NJ TRANSIT or similar public transportation agencies, particularly on rail yard or rail facility improvement projects is highly beneficial

The expected salary range for this role in New Jersey is $55–$65 per hour. Total compensation, including salary and bonuses, is determined by various factors such as experience, skill level, location, and qualifications, which are evaluated during the interview process.
