Appointments may be made in one or more engineering departments based on the candidate’s expertise and interests. While most positions are expected to be at the assistant professor level (tenure‑track and teaching), consideration will also be given to more senior‑level appointments, and all qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.
The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) at Rutgers is a leading engineering program with state‑of‑the‑art laboratories and close relations with local industry. The department has more than 40 full‑time faculty with more than 1,100 undergraduate students in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, and Packaging Engineering and more than 200 graduate students. The department is home to the New Jersey Advanced Manufacturing Initiative that engages with industry on AI, advanced manufacturing, and workforce development.

Preferred applications include wind, solar, nuclear, renewable and sustainable power supply. Candidates with relevant expertise in renewable energy, wind turbines, solar power, computational and structural mechanics, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, machine learning, data‑driven optimization, complex systems modeling, and applications are especially encouraged to apply. Synergies with strengths in Energy, and Controls, will be viewed positively. Successful candidates will be expected to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering;
develop a nationally recognized and externally funded scholarly research program.
Minimum
Education and Experience:
Qualifications include a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field, completed by the time of appointment and demonstrated excellence in research, potential for or record of external funding, and a strong commitment to teaching and student success.
