Rutgers University-Newark (RU-N) and New Brunswick, an urban public research university located in Newark, New Jersey, is seeking a Director to support its mission of academic excellence and student success. The Director reports to the Vice Dean for Academic Programs and Learning Assurance and oversees initiatives connecting students with career opportunities and enriching the student experience at Rutgers Business School. This role manages Employer Relations and Student Engagement, ensuring collaboration with the RBS strategic vision for student experience and career outcomes.
Responsibilities- Develop and execute a unified strategy for student extracurricular experiences, employer relations, and co-curricular student life to support retention, satisfaction, and career outcomes.
- Provide direct supervision and performance management for employer relations staff and student engagement program coordinators.
- Serve as primary liaison between career advisement, student services, academic program directors/administrators, and employer partners to support students from enrollment through graduation.
- Collaborate with central career offices in Newark and New Brunswick to enhance career opportunities for RBS students.
- Resolve complex issues related to student engagement, employer relations, and departmental operations.
- Manage the department budget and expenses to maximize ROI and positive student outcomes.
- Travel among regional campuses and attend industry and corporate events as required.
- Minimum
Education and Experience:
Requires a master’s degree in education, operations management, communications, or related area with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a higher education setting. - Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong leadership and supervisory skills; knowledge of university policies and procedures; commitment to student success; strong communications and networking skills.
- Preferred Qualifications: Significant (5+ years) experience in higher education; strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills; knowledge of RBS curriculum, admissions requirements, and academic policies; experience with 12twenty, Canvas, and academic advising.
- Equipment Utilized: 12twenty, Career Knight, Suitable, Run4
Success (EAB), IMS, SRDB, SharePoint, Microsoft Office. - Physical Demands and Work Environment: Occasional travel between Newark and New Brunswick campuses; may be required to support evenings and weekends.
